Expert repair for Traction Alopecia caused by Turbans, Beard Fixers,
and
Tight Ponytails.
Restoration for receding hairlines and patchy beards in South Delhi & Gurgaon.
Who Is At Risk? (Common Indian Scenarios)
Traction alopecia doesn't look the same on everyone. We treat three distinct patterns:
The "Tight Pony" Pattern (Indian Women)
- The Cause: Pulling hair back tightly into a ponytail or bun
(common in schools, corporate settings, or cabin crew).
- The Damage: Constant tension on the Frontal Hairline and
Temples.
- The Sign: You may see "fringe" hairs (broken short hairs) or a
receding hairline that looks like an "M" shape.
Beard Traction Alopecia (Beard Fixers)
- The Cause: Using strong sticky gels ("Fixo" or beard fixers)
and tying the beard tightly with a Thatha(cloth) to keep it set.
- The Damage: The hardening of the gel + the tight cloth creates
massive tension on the chin and submandibular area, ripping hairs out or causing them to break.
- The Sign: Patchy baldness or thinning density in the beard,
often misunderstood as Alopecia Areata.
Turban/Patka Traction (Sikh Men & Boys)
- The Cause: Tying the Patka or Dastaar (Turban) too tightly,
especially the base knot.
- The Damage: Receding frontal hairline or thinning in a
band-like pattern across the forehead.
Areas Involved (The Danger Zones)
Mechanical tension targets specific weak points:
- Frontotemporal Region: The hairline above the forehead and the
temples. This is the first area to recede in ponytail/turban wearers.
- Occipital Region (Nape): The back of the neck, often damaged by
heavy buns or braids.
- Submandibular & Chin (Beard): The jawline area where the beard is
pulled and fixed most tightly.
The "Fringe Sign" Diagnosis
We use Advanced Video Dermoscopy to differentiate Traction Alopecia from genetic
balding. We look for:
- The Fringe Sign: A rim of short, thin hairs at the edge of the
bald patch. These survived only because they were too short to be caught in the tight grip.
- Hair Casts: White, tube-like cylinders on the hair shaft,
signaling active inflammation from pulling.
- Loss of Follicular Openings: In late stages, the skin looks
smooth and shiny (Scarring), indicating the root is dead.
Medical & Regenerative Therapy
(For Reversible / Active Stage)
If the area is still red, tender, or has tiny hairs, we can reverse it.
- Stop the Tension: We guide you on "Hair Holidays"—loosening the
pony, using
softer beard fixers, or adjusting the Turban knot.
- Topical Steroids: To immediately reduce inflammation and redness
in the
beard or scalp roots.
- Minoxidil: To stimulate the "shocked" follicles back into growth.
- TrichoPAT (Needle-Free): A painless acoustic wave therapy perfect
for
inflamed, tender scalps. It pushes growth factors deep into the roots without needle trauma.
