Scarring Alopecia Treatment

Are you dealing with permanent hair loss due to inflammation, injury, or burns?

You may be facing Scarring Alopecia (Cicatricial Alopecia), a condition where hair follicles are destroyed and replaced by scar tissue. Unlike common hair fall, hair loss in these areas is permanent unless treated with specialized expertise.
At Dermaclinix, recognized as the best skin and hair clinic in South Delhi, Gurgaon, and Noida, we categorize and treat Scarring Alopecia based on its root cause:

  1. Primary (Autoimmune): Where the body attacks the hair (requires medical stabilization).
  2. Secondary (Trauma/Burns): Where injury destroyed the hair (requires surgical restoration).

Our AIIMS-trained dermatologists use advanced Trichoscopy and Biopsy to confirm your type and deploy the exact protocol needed to save or restore your hair.

Scarring Alopecia Treatment in Delhi NCR

Expert care for Scarring Alopecia (LPP, FFA) & Burn Scar Repair in South Delhi, Gurgaon & Noida. From Biopsy-guided medical therapy to Reconstructive Hair Transplants.

Type 1: Primary Scarring Alopecia (Autoimmune)

(Lichen Planopilaris, FFA, Folliculitis Decalvans) In Primary Scarring Alopecia, inflammation targets the stem cells of the hair follicle. The goal here is urgent stabilization to stop the hair loss from spreading.

Conditions We Treat

Lichen Planopilaris (LPP)

Causes patchy loss with intense itching, burning, and redness around follicles.

Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia (FFA)

Often seen in women, causing a receding hairline (band-like loss) and loss of eyebrows.

Folliculitis Decalvans

Characterized by "tufted" hairs (multiple hairs from one pore) and painful pus-filled bumps.

CCCA (Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia)

Hair loss starting at the crown and spreading outward.

Diagnosis & Medical Treatment

Since this is an active disease, we do not rush to surgery.

Diagnosis:  We perform Trichoscopy and a confirmatory Scalp Biopsy to identify the exact immune trigger.

Medical Therapy:

  • Intralesional Steroids: To halt active inflammation immediately.
  • Systemic Medications: Hydroxychloroquine, Doxycycline, or Isotretinoin to stabilize the immune system.
  • JAK Inhibitors: Advanced drugs (Tofacitinib) for resistant cases.

Type 2: Secondary Scarring Alopecia (Burns & Trauma)

(Burns, Accidents, Electric Shocks, Surgical Scars) Unlike the autoimmune type, Secondary Scarring Alopecia is caused by external physical damage. The good news? Because there is no "active disease," these cases are stable and do not spread.

Conditions We Restore.

Thermal Burns

Hair loss from fire or scalding injuries.

Electric Burns

Deep tissue damage from high-voltage contact.

Trauma Scars

Hair loss from road accidents, deep cuts, or avulsion injuries.

Surgical Scars

Visible scars from previous brain surgery or strip (FUT) hair transplants.

Surgical Treatment: Direct Restoration

Patients with secondary scarring are excellent candidates for direct Hair Transplantation. We do not need to wait for disease stability.

Our Reconstructive Protocol

Vascularity Assessment: Our surgeons use Doppler or clinical evaluation to ensure the scar tissue has enough blood flow to support new hair.

Reconstructive Hair Transplant (FUE)
We carefully implant grafts into the scar using specialized techniques to penetrate the tougher tissue.
PRP & Exosome Support
We often combine surgery with PRP to boost blood vessel formation (angiogenesis) in the scar, significantly improving graft survival.

FAQs

Natural hair cannot grow back on deep burn scars because the follicles are destroyed. However, a Reconstructive Hair Transplant is highly effective. We can surgically implant new hair into the scar to cover it permanently.
If you had an injury (burn, cut, surgery), it is Secondary. If the hair loss started spontaneously with itching, burning, or redness, it is likely Primary (Autoimmune). We confirm this with Trichoscopy.
It carries risks. Performing surgery on active LPP can "wake up" the disease (Koebner phenomenon). We only operate if the disease has been completely stable for 2 years.
No. Since there is no disease, we can proceed with Hair Transplantation as soon as the wound has fully healed and the scar is mature (usually 6–12 months post-injury).
No. It is a minor 5-minute procedure done under local anesthesia. It is the "gold standard" to confirm if your hair loss is scarring or non-scarring.
